NEW! Schedule for Week of 2/15-2/19
This year’s Presidents Week looks a little different due to the late start we had to the school year. Instead of the whole week off, we will actually have only Monday, February 15 and Friday, February 19 as holidays/no school.
Tuesday is a regular Tuesday schedule with even periods – start at 8:30 with period 2.
Wednesday is a regular Wednesday schedule with odd periods.
Thursday is asynchronous/independent day. Students will have assignments from teachers and are required to check in to classes for attendance.
Friday is a holiday.

NEW! National School Counseling Week
All Grades, Last Name A-Li
"I believe everyone's social emotional health is very important. As a counselor, I am able to support students in various ways through prevention, intervention and crisis support. Being a part of each student's personal journey is a gift."
All Grades, Last Name Ll-Z
"I really enjoy the pre-teen and young adult age, and I like to see how students in this age group change and grow over time. I didn't have a great experience with School Counselors when I was a student and I hope to make seeing a School Counselor a positive experience for the students I work with."
Intervention Couselor
"I can honestly say it is the best job ever. I love each and every one of our Eagles and look forward to the day when each one soars. We don't all grown and learn at the same rate, but that's ok. You will soar when your time is right. Just keep trying to be the best you that you can be. I'm here to help!"
Black History Month
Throughout the month of February Mesa Verde will share the accomplishments of African Americans who have helped shape our nation. Black history is about joy, love, and celebrating the genius of those contributions and how our country has benefited. Students will receive frequent emails and posts on our site’s Eagle Canvas page. The library has been expanding our list of books written by African American authors and Mrs. Furtado is eager to share! Our message is one of celebration.
NEW! MVMS Spelling Bee Winners
Our winner was Gavin C. 2nd place was Leo M. 3rd place was Anika B. Gavin will represent Mesa Verde at the Scripps Regional Virtual Spelling Bee.
NEW! Happy Birthday to our National PTA!
It was on February 17, 1897, that about 2000 people gathered in Washington DC to speak on behalf of the needs of children.
PTSA meets every month via Zoom every month and still finding ways to support the work at Mesa Verde. If you cannot give a monetary gift, maybe you can give your time – all are welcome at the first Wednesday of every month. Email mvmsptsapresident@gmail.com to receive the Zoom meeting invite.

Course Selection for 2021-22 School Year
Mesa Verde has done course selection in mid to late March and we anticipate the same this year. We will be sharing a How To video for course selection as we get closer. Nothing to do at this time.
We are planning for our incoming sixth grade parent information night for March 23. It will be an evening virtual event.
Intradistrict Transfer Requests
For students who live in the PUSD boundaries and would like to attend another PUSD school, PUSD will accept Intradistrict Transfer requests for the 2021-2022 school year from February 1, 2021, at 8 a.m. through March 31, 2021, at 5 p.m. During that time period, there will be a link on the PUSD webpage to submit a transfer request.
For students who live in another school district and would like to attend a PUSD school, PUSD will accept Interdistrict Attendance Permit requests for the 2021-2022 school year starting February 1, 2021. Please note that the document must first be signed by your district of residence before it is submitted to PUSD.
Decisions on transfers are made by the Student Attendance and Discipline Office, not Mesa Verde.
Attention 8th Graders: Preparation for High School
Soon our 8th Grade Families will begin to think about the transition to High School. If you will be attending a high school in PUSD, there will be a newsletter coming out with information on all of the virtual family nights and student presentations. Information will include times and virtual links. All student presentations will be held on March 19th. Students will hear about their future high school and receive information on how to start selecting their courses.
For families that are placing a transfer request, your student would need to attend the high school presentation of the high school that they are slated to attend, not the one they are choosing to transfer to. When they select their courses within synergy, they will need the high school codes for the school they are slated to attend (home location). Don’t worry, all virtual presentations will be recorded and accessible on the high school websites.
Student Presentations
March 19th
Family Presentations:
Mt Carmel High School: March 2nd
Westview High School: March 9th
Poway High School: March 16th
Rancho Bernardo High School: March 16th
Del Norte High School: March 23rd
