Measurement Practice

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a GREAT break. The class and I spent some time on Monday talking about the many adventures and sights enjoyed over break. It sounds like it was a much needed break for everyone.

This week, we continued lessons started before break. We are still focusing on supporting our main ideas with details in the reading material. A kid told me the other day, "I have never worked this hard and liked it so much!" I think that is a successful day!

In math, we are wrapping up our Measurement unit. Honestly, it is one with a lot of hands-on activity and the kids have really enjoyed being mathematicians with REAL devices! We will close out the unit on Monday and test Wednesday. I think they are more than ready to ACE the test!!

In Science, we are learning about plants. Our plant unit is short, mostly because they learn so much in their second grade year and we practice extending those facts a bit more. Our last science unit is around the corner and one of my favorites - Simple Machines! Next Friday, I will send home a parents' letter with more details on the concepts and our big finale for the end of the year.
