Principal's Update
Thankful and Blessed!
We are having so much fun learning with your kids this school year. Every week we seem to have something wonderful to celebrate! This week alone we honored our students that participated in the PTA Reflections contest, our third graders participated in a learning opportunity to fight world hunger, Student Council collected cans for the Community Storehouse, our students participated in Generation Texas week by learning about different colleges, one of our student's art work was chosen to be on the NISD Christmas card, students ran in the annual turkey trot, and we honored our Kids with Character at our six week breakfast! Whew.....that was just one week!
We want to take the time to tell you thank you for allowing us to serve you and your children this year. It's days like today when we all come together for an event that make me stop and reflect how awesome it is to be your principal! Your children bring us joy each day, and for that we are thankful. Remember, there is no school from November 19th through November 23rd. Please enjoy that time with your family and friends. I also want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support with our Fall fundraiser. Your support for this fundraiser helps Granger in many ways that benefit each student including additional Chrome books for the younger grades, teacher supplies and other school needs. Have a great Thanksgiving Break to you and your family.
National School of Character!
Thank you for working with us to continue the implementation of our Character Counts program. We opened the school in 2007 with a focus on building kids with character. This past October our counselor, Christy Buce, and 3rd grade ELA teacher, Kelsey Wallace, joined me on the platform as Granger Elementary was awarded the coveted National School of Character award for the second time by the Character Education Partnership. Granger Elementary continues to be at the forefront of the character education movement in the United States and Texas.
None of this could be possible without the collaborative effort of the entire Granger school community. We have the best students, parents, and staff anywhere! Thank you for entrusting your children to us as we work together to assure your Wrangler a quality, well-rounded education.
Mandi Moore was our September teacher of the month!
Teacher of the Month Nominations
Exemplar Educator Nomination
Each year, Granger selects an outstanding educator to represent us as our campus Exemplar Educator of the Year. Past recipients of this award include current Granger faculty members, Kelly Walton, Debbie Caillet, Shawntay Hammonds, Erin Johnson, Christy Buce, and Kelsey Wallace. If you would like to nominate a teacher for this award you can request a form from the Granger office. Forms are due by December 7th to be considered for the honor.
For an electronic form, please click on the link below.
The nominees will complete an Exemplar Educator application that is then scored by a committee using a rubric. Announcement of the Granger Exemplar Educator takes place in January 2019. Being named an Exemplar Educator is quite an honor for a teacher and puts him or her in the running to be the district Exemplar Educator. Thank you for taking the time to honor an educator who has made a difference!
