March 15, 2021

Students and teachers are making up for lost time. They are working hard. You would be very proud of what I get to see everyday! 3rd grade will take their MAP test this week to get updated information about their readiness in reading for the Read to Succeed legislation. The remainder of the grades will take MAP tests next week. We will use this test information to plan our instruction for the remainder of the year. Please be sure your child is well rested and encourage him or her to do their personal best.

We need parents of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to please take some time to watch the following narrated Career Development Conference Informational Presentation about opportunities for your child after elementary school. Our elementary guidance counselor, Miss Piroli, will be meeting with all 5th grade parents individually (virtually or via phone) over the next couple months to complete your child’s Career Development Conference in preparation for moving on to Middle School this fall.

The safety and welfare of our students and staff are our highest priorities at Pee Dee Elementary. We practice safety drills throughout the year to help our students know what to do in the event of an emergency. Throughout the school year, we conduct safety drills, such as fire, severe weather, intruder, earthquake, tornado, and bus. Prior to these drills, your child’s teacher will thoroughly review procedures with the students. On Tuesday, March 16 the students and staff at Pee Dee will be participating in an intruder drill. We feel that it is important for you to know that these drills occur on a routine basis, but we do not always notify parents/guardians for each individual drill. We believe that having appropriate procedures in place and being prepared for the unexpected are critical in promoting school safety. Thank you for your support in promoting safety at PDE.
