6th Grade Advanced Math

This week students reviewed the order of operations, and solved problems using the distributive property. They also worked on expanding linear expressions with rational coefficients by combining like terms.

Next week the students will continue working on expanding and factoring expressions with rational coefficients. Since we did not have time this week, the students will also work on their Real World Experience Project.

I am looking forward to speaking with all of you at your child's parent/teacher conference. I plan on discussing your child's performance at your scheduled conference time with your child's homeroom teacher.

3rd/4th Differentiated Engagement Block (DEB)

This week the students finished writing their social/emotional goals, as well as their academic goals for the school year. The students also spent today reflecting on the explorer artifact activity from last week. On Monday they will finish up their reflection activity, and then they will be introduced to ancient and modern day inventions. I am excited to introduce the activities to the students!

5th/6th Differentiated Engagement Block (DEB)

On Monday the students participated in a deep discussion about coming of age topics they are passionate about, as well as injustices they see in the world. They have been given the challenge to create a Public Service Announcement on a topic that has great meaning to their life. The students have been using Storyboardthat.com to plan their PSA. Next week the students will begin putting their plan into action!
