Ohlone Family Connection
December 9, 2020
Hello, Ohlone Families,
What is THAT, you ask? Well, it's a funny little piece of a bell pepper that my son breathed life into with a Sharpie. I put it in the perfect Italian parsley palace. It is the silly little things that keep us going. Thank goodness we have children in our lives.
This week, teachers and parents have shared their appreciation for the teaching and learning that is happening on campus and in distance learning. We are finding our way and developing routines and strategies to help Ohlone come alive in our respective environments. I can feel the joy as I walk across the playground and drop into Zoom classrooms.
Ohlone has a history of kindness and care for our earth and each other. While it has been hard to be without extended family and a real break from it all, I hope that we will all commit to staying home during this winter break if travel is not essential. Our hybrid teachers, staff, and students are depending on our diligence in maintaining our family cohorts and avoiding nonessential travel until it is safe and advisable. We are a community. We have a responsibility to one another. I appreciate all of the effort and sacrifice during this critical time in our world.
Thank you for taking the time to read the OFC this week. There are some important tidbits. As a reminder, CVC is hosting an Ohlone Parents Mental Health Hour tomorrow evening!
Please take care, stay well, and find joy in simplicity.

Final Learning Model Change Request - Deadline 12/14
In November, Dr. Austin wrote in his weekly update that principals would share the process for requesting a learning model change to begin in January. Please know that changes in learning models will be based on space availability and will be the final class placement for the 20-21 school year. Principals will prioritize placement for students with academic or social-emotional needs should space availability be limited.
Requests for a specific teacher or friends will not be considered as there are several factors to consider in creating balanced classrooms.
If you are interested in a learning model change, please complete the Google Form below by 12/14/20 at 5:00pm. You DO NOT need to fill this form out if you wish to keep your child in their current learning model.
- Complete the Google Form requesting a change in learning model by 12/14/20 at 5:00pm. Ohlone Learning Model Change Request Form
- Parents will receive notification by 12/18/20, pending availability, of their child’s new placement.
- New class assignments will begin on January 7, 2021 and are considered the final placement of the 20/21 school year.
