Message from Mrs. Sivadasan

Greetings Endeavour Families,

I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break. I know all of us will need this time to recharge as we head into the whirlwind of the end of the school year. Please take the time to read about all of our upcoming events and the amazing things that are taking place at our school.

Fifth Grade Camp:

Our fifth graders will be heading to Camp Colman April 24-26! While camp seems like a “rite of passage” to our fifth grade students, our purpose in sending them goes beyond that. We hope that by attending Camp Colman our fifth grade students will come back with a greater sense of social responsibility, healthy living, and respect for the environment.

Smarter Balanced Testing (SBA)-

Our 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students will be taking the Smarter Balance Assessment starting at the end of April. At school, we will be having students take practice tests in the coming weeks, so they are familiar with the online format of the assessment.

What can you do to help your student be ready for testing?

· Make sure they get a good night’s sleep

· Have a healthy breakfast

· Pack them a healthy snack each day of testing.

It is also important that students be on time to school as we begin testing right away.

We had seven staff members (including myself) apply for entry to Columbia University to be able to attend the prestigious Teacher's College, and we were all accepted! Thank you to Issaquah Schools Foundation for the amazing financial support. Our staff is excited for this opportunity and I am thrilled to be able to pass on the amazing instructional strategies that we learn to our Endeavour students.

Thank you Issaquah Schools Foundation!

Student Council Project- Kid Connections

Dear Endeavour Families,

Our Student Council has been working on their first project and they are ready to share it with you. Their project is called Kid Connections. The SC members wanted to help connect kids at recess who are looking to meet and make new friends. The 4th and 5th grade council members hosted activities at the 3,4, and 5 lunch recesses on Monday, March 11th, Tuesday, March 12th, and Thursday, March 14th. The activities included ice breakers, trivia, art, etc. Below is a video the kids made to share about their project.

Construction Update:

I have added some new construction pictures below. I am excited to see so much progress taking place! We have also purchased additional playground equipment to help offer a variety of fun activities for students during recess and we are offering a weekly indoor recess option as well. The YMCA also continues to come out and offer fun recess games/activities twice a week.
