Dear Families
Happy Thursday to all our families! Term Two is fast getting away - we are already halfway through!
Education Week
Education week is this week. We are celebrating what a great school Bourchier Street Primary School is. We are always looking for ways to provide our children with the best possible educational experiences. We want everyone to feel happy and safe and to learn heaps.
We are extremely proud of all our children and certainly appreciate our wonderful families who support them and us.
This week there have been special events happening across the school from visiting productions to excursion to fun classroom activities. Our children have been out and about celebration their learning.
Reconciliation Week
Reconciliation Week is next week. We acknowledge the traditional owners of our land. During next week we will celebrate with all aboriginal and Torres strait islander people and show our gratitude for this country where we all enjoy living, working and playing.
Coffee /hot chocolate
The coffee van comes to our school on Tuesdays and Thursday. It is here from 8:15am. You are all welcome to purchase coffee / hot chocolate.
Breakfast program
Our breakfast program is operating on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings for all children to enjoy before going into class. It is a great opportunity to chat with their friends and enjoy a peaceful start to the day. Our thanks to Richard our Chaplain and Ange our Kitchen Garden coordinator who organize this program.
Thanks to all who often donate vegemite, jam and milo to this program. Your generosity is very much appreciated. If you wish to donate at any stage, feel free to drop any of these products into the office or send them along with your child.
No students at school Day -Reminder
June 10 has been designated as a “no school day” for our children here at Bourchier St PS. The department has allocated a day to all schools for teachers to plan teaching and learning programs appropriate to their school. So, on June 10 all our teachers will be involved in professional learning and planning for the second half of the year. Their Care will operate for any family who wishes to book in to use their services on this day.
Healthy Lunch Box
We have reintroduced our healthy lunch box award. We are encouraging wrapper free food in lunch boxes in an effort to eat healthy and reduce our rubbish. We would appreciate your help with this.
Cleanest Classroom
The “golden broom” award for the cleanest classroom is much sought after. Through this award we are teaching our children a life skill to be clean and tidy.
School Review
We have just completed our School Review which happens every four years. It is a process where we review our strategic plan from the last four years and set direction for the next four years. During this review we evaluated how effective our programs, systems and teaching and learning has been and set some new goals focussed on improving what we already have in place.
A reviewer came into the school to lead this process. She was incredibly impressed with our children, our families and our staff commenting on how calm, how good and how happy our school environment is. This reaffirms our belief that we have a great school and a great school community.
COVID / FLU
We are being seriously affected by both COVID and the Flu at the moment. We have had many children absent during the past few weeks and we have had a constant stream of children needing to go home due to becoming unwell during the day. Please take care and continue monitoring closely.
Thanks for your support
Kind regards
Denise
Walk to School
Walking to school is the perfect way to start the day by getting some exercise, fresh air and ready to start school with a clear mind. Bourchier students enjoyed a drink, and some fruit after joining in the National Walk to School last Friday!
Alpha Show
Our Junior school took a trip to the theatre on Monday to see a memorable theatrical musical which had them laughing and entranced in the Sleeping Beauty Story. It was a memorable comedy show which was educational, inspirational with powerful metaphors.

Bookclub
Scholastic Book Club orders for issue 4 are now open and orders will close on Friday 10th June 2022

This will ensure that students get their orders, which are delivered to school for free, and that the correct payment is received. Please use the link to register and start your order www.scholastic.com.au/loop

For cash payments, please ensure you have the correct money and that the envelope is securely sealed with your completed order form. This makes it a lot smoother to process all orders and ensures the order can be submitted to Scholastic in a timely manner.
Education Week
This week we are celebrating Education Week. The theme for this year is 150 years of public education. To celebrate our school’s history we are asking past and present families to share some photo memories of their time at Bourchier Street Primary School by emailing our school at bourchier.ps@education.vic.gov.au
We will share a collage of the collated images on our Facebook page and in the school newsletter in due course.
