JHW Inspire Academy - Rockdale
4th Six Weeks
Campus Highlight
Science - Dr. Forsyth
In science, we studied changes to the Earth and organisms living on Earth over long periods of time. We covered plate tectonics and changes to the earth’s surface caused by weathering as well as how animals adapt to changes in their environments and the process of natural selection. In this unit, we modeled adaptations of bird’s beaks by using various utensils to pick up beans (chopsticks, knives, forks, and spoons). Students also created their own creatures and explained their adaptations for survival. We explored how the positions of the sun, Earth, and moon cause seasons, tidal changes, and the phases of the moon. Lastly, we examined how all life on Earth is classified into taxonomic groups according to shared characteristics.
