Books must be returned to the drop container located outside of the entrance to DW; books may not be sent back with our D103 bus drivers due to COVID protocol.
Not sure what titles we have? Search our Destiny catalog at https://bit.ly/33VwCU7 Please read the FAQs listed below for further details. Still have questions? Please contact Mrs. Otto, DW Librarian, at totto@d103.org or Library Assistant, Mrs. Walker, at lwalker@d103.org
Q: What is the current protocol for the circulation of library books during COVID-19?
A: The American Association of School Librarians is following the REopening Archives, Libraries, and Museums (REALM) Project in which scientists have found that the virus SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19 is not detectable on five common library materials after three days. The DW Library will be quarantining all returned library books for at least four (4) days. If/when protocol changes, we will follow these guidelines along with any recommendations from the CDC.
Q: How long may I keep the DW library books? What if my books are not returned to the DW collection container on time?
A: As everyone says, "these are unprecedented times". Our goal is to get print materials into the hands and hearts of our DW readers. Although our usual check out period is two weeks, we will not be worried about books being overdue. That being stated, if you know you have a "best seller", a "newest release", or a Rebecca Caudill title, please assume other students are probably waiting for that title too. Do your best to meet the due dates stamped in the front of each book or better yet, return early! Currently, three (3) is the maximum number of print books any student may have checked out at one time.
Q: How do I know if the DW Library owns a specific book?
A: Please make sure to check our Daniel Wright Destiny catalog. If a copy of the requested book is available, it will say so. Please see the library catalog screenshot below to familiarize yourself with the information provided in Destiny.
Q: I requested a book, but it wasn't delivered on the day I was expecting it. What happened?
A: Either the requested book was not available, or your request was received too close to the cutoff for the next delivery. Deliveries will be made on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week. Check the Destiny catalog to ensure your book is available. Please be patient as this is a new endeavor for the DW Library and the D103 Transportation Department.
