Transition Center News
January 2014
Job Sites
Charlotte thanked everyone for their networking efforts regarding job sites. It was a big success! Staff was able to schedule another day at Red Lobster among other sites and added days. Four of our students will be working at the skill center in the new semester.
Staff should be helping students work on their resumes and interview skills.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parents have voiced concerns about not getting enough feedback from their child's school. In an effort to address that, we are holding parent/teacher conferences on February 11 and 13, 2014. A letter will go home to parents informing them of the dates and times.
New Semester
Staff has been working on student schedules for the new semester, which starts next Monday.
Apple TV
Staff opted to have the Apple TV units mounted on the walls in classrooms. Patti has contacted TMS to have them installed.
Transition Skills
Brigance has developed a Transition Skills Inventory for middle and high school students. The special education administrators met with a representative to learn more about it.
Senior Box Program
Kim was able to take $200 to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan for their Senior Box Program. This program provides supplemental food boxes to senior citizens each month through annual sponsorship. Thank you to all who participated.
Very Special Arts
An artist from Very Special Arts will be coming to the Transition Center on Fridays to work with students during an eight week course. It will be exciting to see what students create!
