Blu Cru Note

Week of November 10, 2014

Good Evening Team,

Parent/Teacher conferences have come and gone. Hopefully, you had an opportunity to share the progress of your students with their families so that they can assist you in the education of their child. This is also a great time to reflect on what worked well in the classroom and what may need to be tweaked for the second semester. In our profession, we are constantly growing and honing our practices. This is a trait of a master teacher.

This week will consist of many activities, once again. For those of you interested, we will host our Fall sports banquet on Tuesday evening. Please feel free to attend to congratulate your favorite athlete. Remember, will we hold our November staff meeting Wednesday in the library at 3:15. Be ready to recognize a team member for going above and beyond. Saturday school will be held this week! Stay tuned for an email from Andrea.

Make it a great week, team Hamady!

Challenge of the Week

Please send me pictures of your Learning Targets! We will begin to examine how we are using them and sharing what works best in our classrooms.

Book Study Reminder . . .

We will begin our book study of Erin Gruwell and her Freedom Writers.

Each PLC will take a section of the book to present out in our PD in January. You may choose a PowerPoint presentation, guided reading activity, Prezi, play, etc. It is up to you, as a group, on how you would like to present your section. This will be a graded assignment :) Your colleagues will rate you on creativity, information, interest level, organization, participation and overall performance. :)

Desiree Henry Update

As most of you know, Desiree was in an automobile accident on her way to school Thursday morning. Mr. Barraco and I stopped in to visit her on Friday. She is in a great deal of pain but her spirits are very bright. She had several students in visiting when we arrived. She will undergo surgery Monday morning. We will keep you updated as we know more. Please do the same if you are in touch with her friends or family.
