Year 9 Transition and Pathway Program (TAPP) and Pastoral Activities on Flourish Day
Welcome to a new era in Careers Education at St Benedict’s Catholic College and indeed the whole of the Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong. Over the past 3 years, a program of Careers Education across Years 7-10 has been developed through a CEDoW led consultation, a Steering Committee and a Pilot program.
On Friday the 11 of March, Year 9 students took part in the CEO Transition and Pathways Program by engaging in 4 x 1 hour workshops:
Lesson 1 - How to create a great Resume
Lesson 2 - Matching my interests and skills with career options
Lesson 3 - Finding out what job options are suitable for me
Lesson 4 - Which career pathway will I take?
These lessons were delivered to Year 9 Strive classes by their Strive Coaches with support from their Year Coordinator and Careers Adviser.
Students enjoyed their complimentary recess and lunch as well as the Fun Friday basketball shoot out competition.
Students are to be commended on their participation and engagement throughout the day.
Here are some student comments about the day;
“It was a really good way to learn about how to write a professional resume with lots of support and help”
“The basketball shootout was great and the lunch provided was awesome plus we got to use the new hall”

RAT Test update
Dear Parents and Carers
In line with recent announcements from the NSW Government, the rapid antigen test (RAT) program ended on Friday 25 February 2022. This means that the twice weekly testing using RAT kits is no longer in place. Thank you for your patience and cooperation over the last few weeks. While it has been a—sometimes unwelcome—addition to the already busy morning routine, proactive testing was a critical tool to keep our school community safe, especially while case numbers remained high in the broader community.
For the remainder of Term 1, families are asked to use RATs at your discretion when you consider it necessary (e.g. if a child develops symptoms or a family member is unwell). Students have been provided with a further eight RATs to be used for this purpose.
Thank you for your cooperation..
