September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month —a time to raise awareness of this stigmatized, and often taboo, topic. We use this month to shift public perception, spread hope and share vital information to people affected by suicide. Our goal is ensuring that individuals, friends and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 immediately.

If you are uncomfortable talking on the phone, you can chat the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988lifeline.org.

Kelsea Moorman met with Cassandra Baier-Pyszczynski the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Iowa State University women’s basketball. Kelsea will begin learning from her while the women train next week at the Sukup Basketball Complex.

Maggie Johnston met with Cory Kennedy (Boone alumni ‘00) the Director of Marketing for the Iowa Games. Maggie will begin her marketing internship this week in a hybrid mode working sometimes in Ames and sometimes at BHS.

These two young ladies have two impressive internships for seniors in high school. Both of them were enrolled in EDGE Advantage last year, our project-based course and completed major projects which built skills and started their networking capabilities. They are both high achievers but who are also not afraid to take calculated risks. They both tried authentic projects last year that helped them find out a little bit more about what they liked about a career as well as a career. The EDGE internship course is the next step in the pathway to their success.

You make us proud ladies! Looking forward to the year and all you learn.
