Maltby Messenger
November 7th Edition
~A message from the Principal~
Conference week has concluded and we now move into that busy time of year! We have celebrations and events that bind us together and remind us of how important our family is. We concluded with celebrating our Fun Run today and every student had a T-shirt and enjoyed the activities outside!
November inspires us to thank our Veterans. Tomorrow we will be joined by many Veterans to celebrate their service and commitment to our country. We appreciate all who served and those who are currently serving. The students will sing songs, show a video and shake all our Veterans hands! We are truly fortunate to have the opportunity to meet and greet all our Veterans.
If you are changing schedules for your child, it is very helpful if you call our office by 2:00 PM. We write notes and communicate with your child as to the change in plans. If you call later than 2 PM, it is difficult to get the note to your child. We appreciate your help with this.
Frosty nights and a good book go hand in hand. For readers who are reading at a high third grade and above level, the Mysterious Benedict Society series is a great mystery with a touch of fantasy. Mysterious Benedict Society books are written by Tenton Lee Stewart. This is a fun and engaging series. For our primary readers, You’re Here For a Reason, by Nancy Tillman, is about the magic of what each of us brings to the world. For the adults, I recently read, Wisdom Lunch Warrior, by Rod Olson. This book discusses how we lead and how we grow as people in life.
Have a great second week of November and stay warm!
Sincerely,
Bonnie McKerney
In observance of the Veteran's Day Holiday, there will be no school on Monday, November 11th. School will resume on Tuesday, November 12th at 8:55 AM. Thank you!!
NEXT WEEK IS AN 'A' SPECIALIST WEEK
Idle Free Schools
Maltby Elementary has instituted a vehicle idling policy at the school. All persons operating vehicles at the school should adhere to the following guidelines:
- When waiting for students to be picked up, all engines should be shut off.
- All drivers should turn off engines when they arrive at school and when they expect to be parked for more than 10 seconds.
- If idling is necessary for temperature control, please restrict it to no more than 5 minutes.
We are implementing this policy to reduce the students' exposure to air toxins emitted in the exhaust of idling vehicles.
We encourage you to eliminate unnecessary idling not only at our school but anywhere you are waiting for more than 10 seconds. This simple change will improve the air our children breathe, as well as the air quality in our neighborhoods.
Thank you for your support...TURN YOUR KEY, BE IDLE FREE!!
And the WINNER is...
