Literary Elements

A reason the plot advances through characterization when Benton Sage commits suicide from the other story line. Benton does this act because his whole life he's strived to please his father but it seems like it will never work. So when Cabot Searcy finds Benton's journal under his mattress he reads an excerpt from the Book of Enoch saying:

"And heal the earth which the angels have corrupted, and proclaim the healing of the earth, that they may heal the plague, and that all the children of men may not perish through all the secret things that the Watchers have disclosed and taught their sons. And the whole earth has been corrupted through the works that were taught by Azazel : to him ascribe all sin." After reading this Cabot became obsessed and this became the begging of a quest. Which bring him to get married to a 20 year old girl Alma Ender who is from Lily, Arkansas who comes back to Lily and has her eye on Cullen after her divorce with Cabot. Cabot hears about Cullen and goes to Lily and to Cullen's house and he (he thinks) sees him outside and takes him and locks him in his trunk. But really he take Gabriel and keeps him hostage for weeks. This shows how one characters act changed and advanced the whole plot.

The setting advances the plot because that's where everyone in the story meets up. In Lily, Arkansas every character even the ones that aren't from there become part of that setting. That's how the plot advances through out the book because every character end up at Lily, Arkansas.

Reccommendations -Praising

I recommend this book for people to read because it a book where you get very anxious to read more of. Its an odd book and I haven't read a book like this before but I would like to read books like this if there are any others. I liked how it had two story lines and then those two connecting at the end because it just made it more interesting.
