The Missouri Compromise Has Been Settled
The Missouri Compromise was crafted by Henry Clay. The argument started over slaves in Missouri after joining the union. Northern leaders wanted to ban slavery in Missouri and Southern leaders outraged. The States were equal between number of free and number of slave; Missouri would tip the scale in favor of one. The agreement stated that Missouri could enter as a slave state as long as Maine could enter as a free state. Drew lines SW corner of Missouri to NW US--- below the line slave states and above the line free states. The Missouri Compromise solved the immediate problem but hasn't solved the slavery issue as a whole. As many people on both sides are sure, a war is a possible option.
