Ms. Quick's Class

January 29, 2015

This week in Class...

Reading: This week we worked really hard on 3 new topics... silent e, when 2 vowels go walking, and the letter y at the end of the word. We will review these things a lot and I believe that when they grasp the concept a bit more, we will see reading take off because these concepts are in a lot of words we read and write.

Writing: This week we did writing prompts. I worked on having the students write the words they knew or were on the word wall and then I called them over to use the ipad's dictations app to say the rest of what they wanted to write and then write it.

Math: We finished module 7...adding and using a scale to measure weight. This went pretty well and the class was assessed today.

Science: The students learned about snow this week. They learned about snowflakes, snowmen, and ice.

Reminders: Ms. Quick will have a sub on Feb 3, 100th Day of School on Feb 4

Other Important Reminders:

February 4th: 100th DAY OF SCHOOL (if we don't have a snow day next week). The children are encouraged to dress like they are 100 years old.

February 12th: VALENTINES DAY PARTY... A note was sent home earlier this week asking students to bring a box to collect valentines in. Class lists were also sent home with this letter. We will be having a party after the valentine exchange so we welcome any and all snacks and drinks.

February 15-19th: COMMUNITY HELPER WEEK...A note is coming home today that explains that the kindergarteners are learning about community helpers and we have time blocked off each day to have moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and grandparents come in and tell us about their job. Please find that note in your child's folder and consider signing up for a time and returning that back to school as soon as possible!

Feel free to fill out this form below for community helper week!
