News from the Berry Counselors
Registration
Registration is under way, now, through March 8th. Counselors are meeting with students individually to discuss future course options for next school year to ensure all scholars are next step ready! Students and Parents can access the registration video for guidance in selecting courses by clicking on the link, 2018-2019 Course Registration Video. Parents and students can access all registration videos, registration planning sheets, AP course information along with online and CPCCoptions on the Phillip O. Berry school website under 2018-2019 Course Registration.
Junior Night
Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology will be hosting Junior Night on Thursday, April 19, 2018 starting at 5:30PM. We encourage juniors and their families to come out to hear information about financial aid, scholarships, the college application process, CPCC, graduation requirements and Naviance. See you there!

1. Go to the Phillip O. Berry Academy Website
2. Click on “Online School Payments” located on the left side of the Website
3. Scroll down and Click on “Official”
4. There is a $3.00 fee associated with a transcript
5. There is a place where you can leave a message under “Purchase Note”
Examples:
• List of Colleges or Universities
• Please mail out my official transcript to: Hampton University
• I will pick up my transcript in the main office
• Please upload my official transcript to Naviance

Students must go to the website and portal where they registered for the exam and manually select which schools they wish to have their scores sent. Note that both tests provide ALL students with up to 4 free score-sends and students have up to 9 days after they take the exam to send them to their selected institutions. To send scores, visit:

Opportunities from Ms. Patel’s Career Development Corner
Feb 28th 5:30 to 6:30 pm- Career College Promise (CCP)program parent Information session in Rm 522 @ school for parents of rising juniors and seniors. This program allows eligible students to take Tuition free college classes with CPCC in their junior and senior year. Parents can also attend one of the information sessions held every Monday at CPCC http://www.cpcc.edu/hsprograms/announcements-dates-1
March 1st 9:15 to 12:45- Berry Spring Career Fair in the school gymnasium. Teachers will sign up to bring their classes during period 2 and 3 slots. All students are welcome to check the fair out during their lunch as well. Over 30 volunteers and organizations from several career clusters will be here to provide one or more of the following

March 6th- college and career exploration field trip to Johnson & Wales University
March 8th, Reality of Money financial Literacy event for students in Auxiliary gym in partnership with the SECU. Over 300 Berry students from AVID, academy of engineering (AOE), health science (AOHS) and information technology (AOIT) will experience the “Reality of Money” simulation. Students will be exposed to various financial learning points, the value of furthering their education after high school, the limiting effect bad credit has on their lifestyle choices and importance of living within one’s means to save their financial future.
March 23rd: Interested Hispanic/Latino Sophomores and juniors to attend the LAYE (Latin American Youth Education) Summit. The summit will provide bi-lingual/bi-cultural:
* Information and resources to access Latino Friendly Colleges and Universities.
* Relevant immigration information for students and parents.
* Connections to Hispanic/Latino economic and professional development resources and opportunities.
March 24th: Field Trip to Microsoft Minority Day. “TRANSFORMING IN THE DIGITAL AGE “is the theme and 20 students who submit an essay on the topic, will get to visit and participate in different technology sessions and hear a motivational minority Keynote speaker.

CCP offers Tuition free college classes in partnership with CPCC for rising Juniors and seniors. CCP classes take place of Berry electives, can be done online from Berry lab, home or face to face at a CPCC campus. College transfer courses have same weight on student’s transcript as an AP class
