Principal's Message

On behalf of the Fernwood faculty and staff, we would like to wish everyone a pleasant and safe summer. To our 8th Grade students, good luck in your continuing academic career. We are all proud of your efforts and the leadership you provided to our younger students. For our returning students, school will be back in session on Tuesday, September 6th.

Castle Project

Students in Miss Merryman's advanced Geometry class built castles and then calculated the total surface area and volume along with the total number of vertices, faces, and edges of every three-dimensional figure.

Xtra Math

Congratulations to these students in Mrs. Wenzel's math classes for mastering XtraMath! XtraMath tests their fact fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They worked hard all year to demonstrate mastery in all 4 operations! We celebrated with an epic pizza party!

Renaissance EOY Pep Rallies

Renaissance hosted EOY Pep Rallies for all three grades! Check out the photos below. Also, big thanks to Fernwood's band for getting our students ready for the pep rally! Finally, big props to Fernwood 8th Grader, Sophia Luongo who kicked off the Pep Rallies with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem!

8th Grade Dance

We celebrated our 8th graders with a combined dance with Alder hosted by Student Council. Everyone had a great time!

6th Grade Greek Olympics

This past week, 6th Grade students participated in their Annual Greek Olympics. It was a great day, and everyone had a lot of fun.

8th Grade Picnic

Big thank you to our Parents Club for hosting today’s 8th grade picnic! All the generous donations were greatly appreciated!

School Mural

Since April, Mrs. Peck worked with a group of talented 8th grade students who designed and painted our new mural on the curved wall across from our cafeteria. A big thank you to our incredibly talented 8th graders who gave countless hours of their time on this huge undertaking: Karlie Bell Roman, Nathan Bortu, Jordan Campbell, Eva Corbin, Emily Espinol, Jasper Hoang, Tammy Le, Olivia Liang, Nataisha Colas Liautaud, Addy Moss and Kiara Ygana. All materials were donated by Mrs. Peck and Mrs. Auble. Thank you to the staff members who jumped in and helped: Mrs. Wexler, Mrs. Costino, Mrs. Middleton and the entire custodial staff, especially Mr. Chad!

Fall Musical


The Fernwood Drama Club presents Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (Youth Edition)!
This show is open to any student who will be enrolled in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade at Fernwood for the 2022-2023 school year. Auditions will take place in mid-September and audition materials will be available on Google Classroom in Summer 2022. Stage Crew applications will be available in early October.

Jazz Day

We're keeping music going until the end of the year! The High School Jazz Band joined forces with the Fernwood Band on Wednesday, June 22nd for Jazz Day. Mr. Milnes (Jazz Band Director) had the middle school and high students playing together, improvising solos, and making music. Check out the photos and videos from the day!

Library Popsicle Parties

Mrs. Lenko provided a popsicle party for the first 6th, 7th and 8th grade pods who returned all of their library books! Blue pod was the first 8th grade pod to return all of their library books, Purple pod was the first 7th grade pod, and Orange 1, the 6th grade classes of Miss Whittle, Mr. Goodwin and Mr. Medica, also won a "Book Worm" to take back to their pod as the first overall pod to return all of their books! Great work everyone!!

Battle of the Pages - Spring Edition

It is time for the Battle of the Pages Spring Edition! The contest will be Staff vs. Students again! The Pie in the Face will be during the last week of school! Contest starts NOW and ends 6/17!!!
