Notes from the Administration
Hello Families-
We are beginning the close out process for this school year. This week and next, teachers will be packing up classrooms and student belongings.
Beginning on June 9th, we will begin to distribute student belongings. We will also be collecting materials. Your child's teacher will be sending an email outlining the details.
We will be collecting:
- band instruments
- library books
- classroom books
- materials loaned to your child by the teacher
- Chromebooks, if your child is not returning to FCPS next year.
For students returning to FCPS schools in the fall, please keep your Chromebooks.
Stay healthy and we will see you soon!
Student belonging pick up and drop off
If you have multiple children and don't want to risk exposure, we will have your children’s materials available at the youngest siblings pick up time.
Student material pick up will be as follows:
Tuesday June 9th- Prek (Details to come from the teacher)
Wednesday June 10th K (Details to come from the teacher)
Thursday June 11th - 1st (Details to come from the teacher)
Friday June 12th -2nd (Details to come from the teacher)
Monday June 15th -3rd (Details to come from the teacher)
Tuesday June 16th -4th (Details to come from the teacher)
Wednesday June 17th -5th (Details to come from the teacher)
Each student has been assigned a pick up time. Please honor the time that you have been given. Teachers will be available to wave goodbye to your child during your assigned time.
You must wear a mask.
You must remain in your car.
Please be prepared to drop Media Center books, Chromebooks and other materials borrowed from the school.
At point A - A staff member will be present to check off returned materials.
At point B- A staff member will then collect materials.
At point C- A staff member will give you your child’s materials that have been bagged and sitting for 72 hours.
The Student pick up line will take place around the car rider area. You will enter Independence Street. Traffic will maintain a single line and pass by the parking spaces and come around to the lane closest to the sidewalk. The material stops will be labeled for returns and a staff member will be there to take them so you do not have to leave the car for any reason.
Medication pick up will be coordinated with your pick up times

Hometown Hero
A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
Amy Broomall- Mrs. Broomall is an excellent advocate for her students. She is aware of their needs and works effortlessly to get resources in students hands. Mrs. Broomall has met with students to assist them through their learning. She has also been a tremendous leader during this time! Thank you Mrs. Broomall.

PreK and Kindergarten Registration
Starting Monday, June 1, FCPS will begin a new online enrollment process that lets parents register their child for school through a secure website.
Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten enrollment will occur online in a secure, virtual environment. Parents will be able to upload required documents and attach pictures.
Required enrollment documents:
-Immunization and health records
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene form 896 Immunization Certificate
and
Documentation of a recent physical exam, recorded on the Maryland Schools Record of Physical Examination
-Proof of date of birth
One of the following: Birth certificate, physician's certificate, hospital certificate, baptismal or church certificate, parent's affidavit, or passport/visa
-Proof of residency
One of these: current property tax bill, current rental bill, current utility bill for water, gas, or electric

Blessings in a Backpack meals for the weekend will be distributed at WHES on Friday May 29th from 11-1 in the WHES Parking lot.
Free WiFi in Certain School Parking Lots
Frederick County Public Schools is offering outdoor Wi-Fi service at 27 school parking lots.
Connections are only available to FCPS students and staff who have valid credentials to access the network. They will log in using the same credentials as they would if they were inside the school.
Governor Hogan's Stay at Home Order identifies "travel to and from an educational institution for purposes of receiving meals or instructional materials for distance learning" as an "essential activity." Families and students must remain in their vehicles to use the the outdoor Wi-Fi access. A social distancing of at least six feet from others, must be maintained at all times.
Schools offering the outdoor Wi-Fi access in their parking lots will post signs when they are printed indicating the areas available. They are:

Meals: Meals are being offered to any student under the age of 18 only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday @ WHES (even if you do not qualify for free and reduced meals. You can pick up breakfast, lunch, and super items all at the same time. Look for the big yellow bus!!) From 11:00-1:00pm.
