Count Week One Update

VLAC Staff would like to thank you for a great first week of count month! We were able to count all but three students this past week.

  • Count Week Two begins today: encourage your children to complete their interaction ASAP. If teachers need additions to the interaction this will allow them time to communicate with you and students.
  • We report to enrolling districts weekly if we were able to count students or not. Students who were not able to be counted represent a loss of state funding for the enrolling district.
  • Enrolling districts may decide not to continue your participation in VLAC if they cannot collect state funds for your child. Enrolling districts use state funding they collect to pay your child's tuition to VLAC.

School Pictures

We are offering school pictures on October 25 from 1PM-6PM at Oakland Schools Main Campus located at 2111 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford MI.

  • Please reference the documents below if you are interested in ordering pictures.
  • Students will get a photo ID on October 25th once their picture is taken.
  • Photos are uploaded to Lifetouch portal and Shutterfly. This allows you to customize your picture order beyond what is offered in the standard Lifetouch packages. The connection to Shutterfly allows you to use your child's school picture on gift and print items. Images are available for 18 months online after they are taken.

VLAC Family Collaborative

VLAC staff are forming a group of interested parents and family members to provide input on various topics.

  • This group will be a lot like Parent Teacher Associations/Organizations but without formal elected roles or budgeting/fundraising.
  • We will have virtual meetings the last Tuesday that does not fall on a holiday of each month.
  • Meetings times will be 1PM-2PM or 6PM-7PM. Volunteers can choose to attend either meeting time.
  • Volunteers can choose to not attend meetings, but provide survey input on topics. Most surveys on family opinion will be sent to all students, families and parents.
  • Potential topics of interest: forming an online VLAC family and parent space to connect and communicate; field trips and other enrichment learning options; clubs; mentor meet ups; other topics as the group decides are of interest.
  • Please use this form to express interest in attending our first meetings on October 26th. A link will be sent to those who RSVP on Monday October 25th for you to attend either meeting that fits your schedule. During our first meeting you will hear more about our purpose and help generate possible topics/committees to collaborate on topics.
