Hunt Elementary Science Fair 2016

Thank you to all who made our annual Hunt Elementary Science Fair a great success! The experiments never cease to amaze me. We appreciate our distinguished judges--Mr. Drehr, Mr. Cavanaugh, and Ms. Stehling. We also are thankful to the members of our Science Fair Committee who coordinated this event. Mostly, we thank our wonderful students for their grand participation and effort! Congrats to our budding scientists!

From Your Principal...

This weekend brought us sunny skies and I hope some happy moments for each of you. The photo below is of my rose bush that I snapped on Saturday afternoon. I know you may think, it's just a rose bush, but to me it's very special. You see, I do NOT have a "green thumb" (even though I was born and raised in Gobbler Country). I planted this rose bush nearly 10 years ago against the advice of almost everyone. I kept hearing "you can't grow roses in that type of soil." or "there is too much sun there, those roses won't make it." and a whole host of reasons why these roses wouldn't survive. Being the determined person I am, I planted them there anyway confident they would defy the odds. Initially, I took excellent care of the plant--making sure it was sufficiently watered, pruned, weeded, fed...the "whole nine yards" as Brooke would say. It wasn't long before the rose bush began to flourish and now it's virtually "independent" as I no longer need to give it the time and effort I once did.

This rose bush experience is one we can relate to our Young Gobblers. If we believe in our students and get them off to the best possible start, they will thrive and possibly even pleasantly surprise us! Remember to always keep trying and keep faith within ourselves and the children we help educate each and every day! Enjoy this last week of the 5th six weeks and remember to water your "flowers." ~Bridgette Cerny
