Returning 4-Days
We are excited for the return of those students who indicated interest in returning 4-days a week! On May 10th students who completed the interest survey will begin with four days a week of in-person days at EHS. Wednesdays will continue to be remote days. If you did not complete the survey, please contact your school counselor and let them know you are interested in returning to four days a week and they will follow up with you after May 10 to set up your first day back as a four day a week student. Students will experience repeated content on the additional days 3 and 4, however for many students this repetition will be helpful and many students are motivated to return to the school building for the final five weeks of school- and we are excited to have them! If you are considering returning four days a week but would like to speak with someone about that, please contact your school counselor to set up a time to talk.
MAY IS EWSD CAREGIVER MONTH!
THANK YOU to all the caregivers who responded to the survey sent out before the break about how we can support you! Based on your feedback, EWSD is offering a series of events throughout the month of May for Caregivers. Check out the Calendar Here. Other events may be added as we get feedback and finalize things so check back often for the most updated version!
One of the offerings is a Question and Answer specifically for YOU! Our skilled Counselors will answer your questions about parenting and your kid(s)! If you have a question or topic you'd like us to discuss, please fill out this form. We will be reviewing responses over the next couple of weeks and will then air a Podcast where you can call in LIVE but will also be recorded and posted to view another time and summarized in the newsletter. We can't wait to hear from you!
If you have any questions about any of the events, please contact Arielle Boutwell at EHS via email at aboutwell@ewsd.org
Upcoming College Visits
We have four upcoming opportunities for this month so far:
May 12: Community College of Vermont, 1pm
May 13: Bennington College, 10am
May 18: Saint John Fisher College (NY), 10am
May 19: U.S. Army information meeting, 12:30pm
If you're not quite ready to think about colleges or other post-secondary opportunities you could still benefit by making a connection with an admissions representative. Consider it an opportunity to see what kinds of questions they ask and what kinds of information you will need to hone an "elevator speech" you can use to let the representative know how great you are!
Rain Garden Clean-up Event
This Rain Garden clean up event took place on Wednesday, April 28th and was sponsored by the EHS environmental club. The rain garden was designed and installed in 2009 to filter pollutants in stormwater runoff from the parking lot before flowing into Indian Brook. The rain garden had not been cleaned up in the last few years so students spent several hours digging, raking, moving rocks, and planting new water loving plants.
