The Board of Education provides a "Board Meeting Summary" after each Board meeting. The summary includes a brief description of the main topics and action items. These summaries are not meant to replace minutes. The minutes for each meeting are approved and posted after the next regularly scheduled meeting. We hope these summaries provide some basic information and context around the reports, presentations and action items. Saliva-Based COVID-19 Screening Discussion | watch

Superintendent Kaczkowski and Board President Bruno summarized the topic of surveillance testing and the process of investigating possible options for District 41.


Dr. Ed Campbell, Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Loyola University Chicago, presented about a surveillance program he developed and has helped implement in his own school district in LaGrange. Board members asked questions and engaged in conversation about the possibility of this program being offered in District 41.

Legal Counsel Brian Crowley attended the meeting and was available to answer questions about his recommendations for terms and conditions on a program like this one.


Dr. Kaczkowski shared that there is possibly another option that she learned about through Abbott Labs. We could be considered for a pilot program. She is investigating if this is a real option for District 41 to consider.
