When We Were Alone
When a young girl helps tend to her grandmother’s garden, she begins to notice things that make her curious. As she asks her grandmother about these things, she is told about life in a residential school a long time ago, where all of these things were taken away. When We Were Alone is a story about a difficult time in history, and, ultimately, one of empowerment and strength.

Students must be picked up promptly. Those not participating in after school activities must be picked up no later than 3:30. Students participating in after school tutorials and clubs must be picked up no later than 4:05.

Math is Everywhere!
Math in Action!
The best part about math is that it’s everywhere you look and we use it everyday! With that in mind it’s a cinch to help your students practice wherever you are! If you are stuck in traffic take that time to quiz your kiddos on their multiplication facts, 3rd-5th.
When you’re at the grocery store have them show off their rounding skills by asking them what dollar amount the items you need are closest too! For example if a carton of eggs says it’s $1.62, is it closer to $2 or $1? A sweet treat is a great motivation tool and learning manipulative! Lay some out and encourage your student to eat some and then ask questions such as, “Do you have more or less than before you ate some?” Small snacks also work great as counters! “How many blueberries do you have on your plate?” “If I take two away how many do you have left?”
Let’s not leave math in the classroom, let’s make sure we see math in action everywhere!
