Roadrunner Report
November
From the Principal's Pen
November 2022,
Hello Rolling Ridge Families. It is hard to believe that we have completed the first quarter of the school year already! I hope that each of you had the opportunity to attend a conference with your child's teacher to review their progress so far this school year. If you have not had this opportunity, please reach out to schedule a conference as soon as possible. We have virtual or in-person conference opportunities.
Report cards will be available to parents in ParentVue on Monday, November 7th. Please make sure to log in to acknowledge your child's report card. If you would like a paper copy of the report card, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Finally, we are excited to be working closely with the PTA this school year. The PTA works to develop strong connections between home and school. You can join the PTA using the following link: https://rollingridgepta.memberhub.com/store?limit=21&live=true&category=Memberships.
Have a wonderful month!

Happy November, Roadrunners!
This has been an exciting month in library! Thank you to everyone who joined us for a very successful Scholastic Book Fair this month. With the money we raised, we will be able to supplement our Library Stations and order new and exciting titles for the library collection. Stay tuned: Our next Book Fair will be in March! If you’re interested in volunteering your help (and receiving a 15% discount) please email Mrs. Redman at Lori.Redman@LCPS.org any time within the next few months. We would be grateful for your help!
This next month in library, all students will learn about the Virginia Readers’ Choice Program. Students in Grades K-2 across the state of Virginia will hear the same 10 stories, and then have the ability to vote for their favorite. Whichever book throughout the state of Virginia has the most votes will win the award. You can learn more here: https://vsra.org/virginia-readers-choice-program.
And as always… don’t forget to Read, Read, Read!!
Love, Mrs. Redman
News from the Gym
During October in PE, our roadrunners have been busy staying active during PE class. Students in grades 4-5, completed our fall fitness tests which are mandated by the state. Students in grades K-3 practiced these tests to gain knowledge and experience. Students also completed a pool noodle unit, in which we used pool noodles for balancing, striking, and tagging. Currently, students in grades 3-5 are in the middle of a football unit in which they are being taught how to properly grip the football, throw the football, catch the football, punt the football, and kick the football off of a tee. Students in grades K-2 are in the middle of a tossing, throwing, and catching unit which is improving their hand-eye coordination while getting the basis down of each skill and knowing the difference between a toss and a throw. Be sure to check out the physical education section on Rolling Ridge’s website, as it will be updated each month with a new fitness calendar, which will provide students with activities they can do at home to stay active.
