Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 11th May 2018
Enjoying the Summery Spring Weather!
Spring Planting
Our Year 3 children have been busy in the school greenhouse. They planted tomatoes and peppers in grow bags which will go into the raised beds once they are a little larger. The plan is to use our home grown vegetables and salads in a healthy sandwich as part of this term's topic.
Year 3 also hosted their last welcome worship of the year, the theme was co-operation the children did some acting and others read a story based on the two donkeys. The class made sure that there was a clear message of how we can achieve more if we work together as we do every day at school, as a school family we achieve many amazing things by working together.

staffing update
We are sure you would also like to join us in congratulating Miss Dumbreck who has shared the news that she is expecting her first baby this summer. We shall be looking for a temporary replacement whilst she is on maternity leave.
Mrs Denney promised to keep you up to date with arrangements for finding a new headteacher when Mr Dudman leaves us. Governors have met on several occasions and will be advertising the position in the local and national press. A robust process has been planned involving support and guidance from North Yorkshire County Council and the Diocese of Leeds. Governors hope to be able to update you further by the end of June.
Are you in finance or business?
The Governing Body are currently looking for a new recruit who might have financial or business skills to add to the team. The commitment could be as few as four meetings a year. If you are interested and have the necessary skills please pop in and speak to Mrs Rich in the school office.
Getting ready for SATs
Our Year 2 and Year 6 parents are probably aware by now that SATs are just around the corner! If you'd like a little more information and advice, please click this link to be directed to a booklet published by the Department for Education.
