EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK

This week's Educator of the Week is SRS Multi-Sensory Reading Tutor, Ms. Margaret "Maggie" Sanford. Ms. Sanford has been an integral part of the SRS team, where she has impacted countless students, since 2018.

Ms. White, a teacher of Special Education at the SRS had this to say about Ms. Sanford: "Maggie is extremely knowledgeable in the area of reading. She regularly collaborates with staff on her students and attends IEP meetings to inform parents of their child's progress." In addition, she noted that, " Maggie is flexible, compassionate, and kind. She always goes out of her way to meet the needs of all students that she works with at SRS."

Principal Baird add that, "Maggie is a gem! In her roles as the SRS reading tutor, she is so kind and welcoming to her students. She is always seeking new ways to teach her students!"

We congratulate Ms. Sanford on being named Educator of the Week and we thank her for doing so much for the students at the SRS. Her efforts make a terrific team team even better. #bettertogether

MHS GIRLS HOCKEY BANQUET

It was an honor to take part in the Girls Hockey Banquet this past week at the Fairview Inn. The girls had their best season in some time and it was a night of accolades, awards and team "togetherness". The work this team has done in the classroom, around the school and throughout the community is just as important as their win-loss record and it was great to see that they had success in all of these areas.

Thank you to the boosters and the team for inviting me and for having a wonderful event for the team.

AREA SUPERINTENDENTS HOST LEGISLATIVE BREAKFAST

School superintendents from across the South Shore met with legislators from the State House at this week's South Shore Roundtable's Legislative Breakfast. A variety of topics were discussed and the event provided an opportunity to identify ways our school superintendents and legislators could work together to help our students and educators.

It was nice to have Senator O'Connor and Representative Kearney at the event so we could discuss the issues impacting the MPSD.

CONGRATS TO MHS BOYS HOCKEY ON A GREAT SEASON

Congratulation to the MHS Boys Hockey team on a great season. After winning their first two games in the MIAA Division 1 playoffs, they bowed out in the "Elite 8" after a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Pope Francis of Springfield.

The team played great throughout the season and were the #5 seed going into the playoffs. The players and coaches have a lot to be proud of and their efforts only added to a very successful winter for the entire MHS Winter Sports program. #GoRams #bettertogether
