A Monthly Communication to Parents from the Principal's Office

-where all students learn at highest levels-
It's December already!
After COVID kept us in remote learning for most of 2020, we have finally arrived at the last month of the year. So much to be thankful for, yet so far to go before things go back to "normal". This first week of December we hope to hear what our FNSBSD School Board decides for bringing back students in the red. It's been proposed to bring about 40% of our elementary students back 4 hours per day, 4 days per week. That would mean all teachers and their own children would return in order to fully staff our school for those that are chosen to return. Mitigation plans to keep our school clean and safe will continue to be in full swing, as they are now. We need to have a plan regarding possible sporadic shut-downs due to increased exposure to COVID by staff and students. Would it be class by class or whole school? Buses would have limited and socially distanced seating. As we plan for the possibility of a partial return of students, while in the red zone, families should know that remote learning will continue while we are in the red. The students chosen to return to the building will simply be doing their remote learning while in the school building instead of at their home. The location will change, but the delivery method and daily schedule will not. Just how we will choose students to return and what the rubric will look like is yet to be fully determined, but if your child is able to connect with our teachers, receive and complete lessons, interact with peers, and is making some progress, then they may not be chosen. It is anticipated that the proposed version is a hybrid version that will remain in place until our community returns to the safer, yellow zone, before all students return.
Have a safe and wonderful holiday season
Warm wishes from Ms. Van and the MSN Staff

Meals are free for all students through December 2020
The USDA has extended the waiver for FNSBSD to provide breakfast & lunch to all FNSBSD enrolled students for FREE. This includes our charter schools and BEST!
There are some important factors to remember:
Meal pick up is at school buildings from 9am-1pm - At MSN its by the gym doors off the bus loop.
Orders can be placed online through School Cafe. Students should be present to pick up meals, but if they are not the parent/guardian must have photo ID and S# for each student. If the parent/guardian is not available, they need to call Nutrition Services at 451-1004 to designate another adult.
Free & reduced applications are still being accepted.
