Dear Jaguar Band Families,

Well, we have seen another great week come and go!! What is even more crazy is that we have just a little over one month of school left before summer arrives! WOW!!

We have several items coming up quickly of which we want everyone to be aware. The biggest items are the upcoming new member camps! We need everyone to encourage the current eight-grade band students and any person interested in joining Color Guard to attend this Tuesday’s Camp! Reach out and share any connections you may have with those new members and encourage them to attend. Remember that the theme for this Tuesday is Crazy Colors!!!

This week all band students grades 8 - 11 will see a new class in Schoology! You will have seven assignments in that class that will be used for next year's band placements. Three of the seven are mandatory, and the remaining four are for any students desiring to be a member of a higher ensemble. The more that you complete at a high level, the greater the opportunity to be a member of the top ensembles. Color Guard, you may see the class but you only need to focus on any assignment that specifically says Color Guard. There are no guard assignments at this time.

SNAP!!! Here is the crazy part about our SNAP Fundraiser. The fundraiser is working; however, we are not achieving the level of success that is possible! Currently, only sixty-one percent of the band is participating by completing their profiles and entering the email addresses. Just imagine how successful this could be if we could get ALL of our band to participate. I am sure that we can reach even higher levels if those who have not yet completed their email take a few minutes to add them to their profile! We need everyone to complete this step! We also want everyone to post this link to our fundraiser on their social media pages to give those who may want to donate to a GREAT organization the chance to do so. Mark your calendars for our ONLY Full Marching Camp this spring. May 20, 21 and 22 is the BIG EVENT!! We will put all band, guard and drumline members together for this camp. This camp is going to be super exciting as we will be preparing for the Parent Preview on Saturday the 22nd and getting to share a sneak peek at music for this year's show! Make sure to mark your calendars for Thursday, May 20th when, at the end of practice, we will watch the movie trailer for our show next year!! It is going to be awesome!!! Parents, Saturday the 22nd will also be our official Band Registration. You will have the opportunity to complete all paperwork and data needed.

Since this year everyone was given the exemption for physicals, it now means that for the fall EVERYONE is now due to turn in a physical in order to participate in band. This is a requirement for all student athletes and band members across the state. We are working to provide an opportunity for physicals to be completed on the Johnson HS camps along with our student athletes. However, you may also have a physical completed at your family doctor's office. You will receive a link this week from the band office to the online physical forms or students may pick one up from Mrs Mendez. Again, this year every student is required to complete the physical.

The Johnson Jaguar Band depends in large part on the fundraising efforts of the Band Boosters. Sponsorships are a very important part of fundraising. Our Sponsorship levels have been updated, and we have a lot of exciting options for businesses AND families! We ask that every family please share this brochure with anyone you know that has a business. We are eager to help promote businesses in our community that support the Jaguar Band! A new addition to our Sponsorship options is the Friends and Family Level. This level offers various options for businesses as well as an option for band families: For $200, you can have your child’s name and graduation year on our band trailer indefinitely with the option to simultaneously add sibling name for an additional $100.
