Work Based Learning at SVHS

This school year, the staff at SVHS began a work based learning program which allows students the opportunity for job training in order to prepare them for all facets of employment during their post high school status. All students learn, what are called, hard skills that pertain to the specific tasks on campus such as: learning computer systems, mail delivery, laminating services, outdoor maintenance, cleaning, gardening, copying, and much more. They also learn 'soft' skills which are identified as: social and interpersonal skills, working as a team, how to ask for help, how to ask for more work, etc. All students work with a trained job coach who provides instructional on these skills throughout the day. We are so excited to prepare our youth to be successful employees in our community one day! Pictured above are Charisma Levens-Oyer and Margaret Schaffer manning the attendance Swipe system.
