Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
December 10th-14th
What's Going On This Week:
- Ms. Harris' Science: This week we will finish our unit on light. There are only 4 lessons on light and our unit test will be on the 19th. Students will have a completed study guide to use as a study tool by this Friday. We are filling it out in class together as we cover a new lesson. This week we will cover Lesson 3 "How Light Travels" and Lesson 4 "How Does Light Interact With Objects".
- Ms. Uhlenhake and Mrs. Thurston's ELA/Math: This week we will work on our Expert Exhibit research and writing. We will continue our unit on Non-Fiction. Ms. U's class will have reading responses due on Friday. In math we will finish our unit on Division. We will take our unit test in Division this week. After that we will start our next unit on patterns.
- Ms. Harris' GT ELA/Math: This week we will be working on our Expert Exhibit speeches, papers, and posters for our Expert Exhibit which will be next Tuesday on the 18th. Students should take home their research paper drafts today and return them edited by a peer and an adult and published by the 17th. We also will have Mrs. Speasl , the district's Instructional Technology Specialist, coming in this week to show the kids how to use a website called Animoto to create book trailers and movies for the books they read. Finally, there will be NO SPELLING this week. I was confused with which week we are on. The students took a test last week so we will pause spelling until after the break. In math this week we are finishing up our timed tests for our multiplication sundae party next week. We are also starting a short unit on patterns. Students will analyze repeating and growing patterns and learn how to extend them to a specific term.
Expert Exhibit is Next Tuesday 18th 8-8:30
All parents are welcome to come down to the fourth grade classrooms from 8-8:30 and tour through the Expert Exhibit displays next Tuesday. Students will be dressed in a costume that represents their expert. They will be "statues" who come alive and share their speeches as people tour through our museum. Please come join us during this time and see all the hard work the students have put into their projects.
