MARCH 1, 2023 - NEWSLETTER
SLPHS families,
Welcome to March. Hopefully, spring weather follows soon. Daylight savings and our spring break and are right around the corner. Spring break starts for our students on Friday, March 10.
This all means we have six days remaining to provide students their final opportunities to demonstrate their learning this term and have it reflected in their trimester 2 grades. Each school day and class period has added importance. Thank you for your partnership in reinforcing the importance of attendance and maximum effort as we wrap up the trimester.
Our athletic teams are wrapping up their seasons and moving into sections and our instrumental music students will have their final concert performances of the season next week. I encourage our parents and community members to come out and support all of our student athletic and arts performers.
Community support is so important to the success of our students and schools. Thanks to all who supported the Panther Foundation’s Week of Giving last week and provided valuable support efforts to benefit all of our students and schools. Thank you for all you do to make this an innovative and engaged place to learn and develop skills for the future.
One school, one community #SLPPantherProud!

Construction trades course receives $50k grant
The Panther Foundation has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Installed Building Products Foundation to support the Construction Trades course at Spring Lake Park High School. Students in the course are building a house that will move into the community later this spring.
“This grant supports students in gaining real-world skills and experience building a home and exploring career paths in the trades,” says Eric Van Brocklin, pathways program lead. “The resulting product will provide quality, affordable shelter for a family in our community.”
The construction trades course is part of the high school’s Career and College Pathways programming in which students explore potential career paths as they gain real skills and experience. There are three pathways that each represent a need for future jobs and community impact — Technology, Engineering and Design; Health and Human Services; and, Business and Entrepreneurship.

Panthers for a Purpose raises $120k
The Panther Foundation’s annual Week of Giving and Panther Party raised $120,000 to support activities and programs benefiting the students of Spring Lake Park Schools.
The Week of Giving, February 18-25, was full of panther pride. There were themed spirit wear days, dine to donate opportunities in partnership with local restaurants, and a silent auction with more than 300 packages open for bidding and a Panther Party on Saturday night.
While the party may be over, the giving isn’t. Each year, the Foundation identifies a Fund-A-Dream project. This year, the focus is support for career and college readiness programming and you can still donate donating online.
