PLTW at BCHS
LEADERSHIP. INNOVATION. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT.
Preparing students for STEM careers!
The project-based aspects of the Project Lead The Way curriculum give students a chance to apply what they know, identify a problem, find unique solutions, and lead their own learning, rather than be passive recipients of information in a question-and-answer, right-or-wrong learning environment. When students understand how their education is relevant to their lives and future careers, they get excited, and that is why PLTW students are successful.
Biomedical Science
The rigorous and relevant four-course PLTW Biomedical Science sequence allows students to investigate the roles of biomedical professionals as they study the concepts of human medicine, physiology, genetics, microbiology, and public health.
Biomedical Courses offered at BCHS:
- Principles of Biomedical Science
- Human Body Systems
- Medical Interventions
- Biomedical Innovation
Engineering
PLTW Engineering is more than just another high school engineering program. It is about applying engineering, science, math, and technology to solve complex, open-ended problems in a real-world context. Students focus on the process of defining and solving a problem, not on getting the "right" answer. They learn how to apply STEM knowledge, skills, and habits of mind to make the world a better place through innovation.
Engineering Courses Offered at BCHS:
- Introduction to Engineering Design
- Principles of Engineering
- Special Topics in Engineering (Hybrid with ATC)
