Hello BHS Families,
It is hard to believe that we are just beyond the midyear point in our school year. Last week, Mr. Casey, Hudder and I held a virtual assembly and provided some reminders, updates and information to all of our students.
We are currently in the scheduling season with our 9th, 10th and 11th graders. We are also planning for the celebratory events that will mark the end of a high school career for our senior class. School life has certainly been busy and will continue to get busier as we say goodbye to our seniors and plan for MCAS, academics and class specific field trips. Stay tuned for more information.
While our students have been flexible, respectful and resilient, we have seen an uptick in unhealthy behaviors such as vaping, school avoidance and anxiety. Therefore, it is important to reach out for help and support when needed. Our counseling department remains available to students for scheduling, post high school planning and for mental health support. They have access to resources and are available to assist students and families. A list of counselors is available below for your convenience. If you do not know your child’s counselor, please reach out to Meredith Tobe, administrative assistant to the counseling team.

BHS Prom Dress PopUp Event
Prom and semi formal events are coming up soon and BHS will be sponsoring a “Prom Dress Pop-Up” event. Students will be able to “borrow” a prom dress and accessories from our donated collection.
We are looking for donations of formal dresses, both long and short, that are sitting in closets at home not being used; as well as formal wear accessories like shoes, purses and shawls. We are also looking for formal suit and tuxedo donations. Please clean your donations before dropping off.
If you want to help but don’t have a dress to donate, you can make a financial contribution to offset program costs, which include alterations, dry cleaning, purchase of dress racks and refreshments for the PopUp event. Checks can be made payable to BHS - Prom PopUp.
All donations can be dropped off in the Bedford High School main office before Friday, March 4. Please email Sandy Arena (sandra_arena@bedfordps.org) or Diane Bernstein (dpbernstein123@gmail.com) for more information.

There are three aspects to our Career Pathways and Planning Program:
Career Speakers: We host two Career Speakers per month. They will be held via ZOOM during the student's Flex Block Period (10:22am-11:30am). Interested students sign up ahead of time. Sessions are approximately 40 minutes in length. Topics our speakers cover include, but are not limited to: a day in the life, the personal journey (what was your path like), necessary education, advice for high school students, what you enjoy most, and then questions.
- Job Shadow Program: Provide students with a half-day immersive experience on a job site, allowing students to observe, interact, and learn from experts in the field. Students can be placed individually or in small groups depending on the business/occupation. Prior to being placed students take a Career Aptitude Test to help them determine a particular area of interest. The Job Shadow Program would happen once a year for our sophomore class in early spring.
- Internships: Would only be offered to seniors who have a demonstrated interest in a particular field. The internships would provide real world experience and responsibility, students must complete an interview with the participating company. Students would be placed based on company approval. Internships can occur during or after the school day. (More information to follow on our Internship Program).
