Principal's Message
Hello Stetson Families,
Happy Friday! We hope everyone had a happy and healthy Thanksgiving with your family. The December weather has finally arrived for us. I personally would like to see some snow during this holiday season. It is time to start prepping for the December holiday season. It always sneaks up on me too fast!
We are currently heading into our second week of remote learning (December 7 - 11th). We are planning to return to the hybrid schedule again on December 14th (A cohort). Dr. Scanlon sent out this letter today to discuss some new guidelines from the health department. Please make sure you take the time to look over the new guidelines.
Looking Ahead for the week of December 14-17:
- Cohort A attends school, in-person on Monday, December 14th & December 15th
- Cohort B attends school, in person on Thursday, December 17th & December 18th
- Wednesday is a REMOTE DAY for ALL students
- MDS students are in in-person learning for five days this week.
Long Term Schedule for Cohorts
Please speak to your child and remind them to use their school-issued laptop at home during their regular scheduled time block. We have put safety precautions into place to avoid class disruptions. Students may struggle to connect with personal devices and cell phones and interrupt the attendance process.
We are doing all we can to provide a safe and caring learning environment for all students despite the current challenging conditions in our community. If you wish to keep your hybrid learner at home, you need to request this in an email directly to me at mpuchalla@wcasd.net. It is important that our students and staff are taking precautions outside of school too, for as we've seen by now, the virus contracted outside of school can have a direct impact on what happens in school. We are in this together!
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. Thanks for your time and attention!
Have a great weekend,
Mrs. Puchalla

Picture Day-- HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED YET AGAIN (third time is a charm--let's hope). The new dates are for December 15, 16, and 18. More specific details to follow as the date gets closer. A cohort of students in the building will get pictures taken on December 15th and B cohort students on December 18th. We will set up a signup genius for our remote and cyber students to come to the building on December 16th while the rest of our students are learning remote that day. Thank you for your flexibility with this process.

Textbook info
Attention 7th and 8th Grade Students:
We are requesting that families check at home for any science, math, or social studies textbooks from last year that were not returned. If you find a textbook, please bring it to school during your in-person hybrid day and give it to your current science, math, or social studies teacher. If you are a cyber or remote-only student, the book can be dropped off at Stetson. Thank you for your help as we try to account for any missing textbooks!
After School Athletics for 7th & 8th Graders ONLY--Cyber & Remote Students
Thank you for supporting our athletic department for fall athletics. We will be planning and organizing winter sports next. Stay tuned for more information soon.
8th Grade parents--Holiday gift idea
Rustin High School online school store is officially open! Shop away! CLICK HERE to get to the store. Use the code GRANDOPENING20 when checking out to get 25% off your order. The store will be open year-round but if you want to get a gift by the holidays, my sales rep suggested you get your order in by the first week of December. COVID could add to delays in shipping or inventory. The 25% off sales runs until Dec. 4.
To see all of the designs, scroll down to “SEE DESIGNS”. On the left-hand side, you can add a category if you want but it’s not required. It’s pretty easy to navigate around but let me know if you have any questions.
Message about Attendance--Cyber & Remote Learners
When a student misses class due to a doctor's appointment, please email the teacher whose class they will miss and Mrs. Sadik (lsadik@wcasd.net) in the Attendance Office. Please ask the doctor for a note and email/scan a copy of the note to Mrs. Sadik so the missed time can be entered as excused.
A reminder that students are to attend all FOUR classes each day. If they miss 2 out of the 4 classes, they are officially marked absent for the day.
If your child is going to be absent for the entire day, we need an email from the parent/guardian on file in Power School. Please make sure your information in Power School is updated for our records.
CYBER STUDENTS--MUST submit attendance quiz in Schoology by 10:45 am EACH DAY or they will be marked absent. Please remind your children about this task.
Counselor Information for Parents
Advisory--Remote Learners
All students are required to attend this class in person and remotely. Attendance will be taken each class period. I hope you have gotten a chance to look at the planning sheet (has current grades on it). It was sent to you by your child and is updated weekly. If you have not, please discuss with your child at home and reach out to the grade level administrator if you have any additional questions.
We will continue to work on executive functioning skills, building initiatives, and individual academic support for all students. This time block is also a good opportunity for students to catch up on missing work or touch base with a teacher to ask questions about an assignment.
