Change of Instructional Delivery-Important Update

Beginning Wed, Sept. 23, families who would like to change their selection of instructional learning model (in-person or virtual learning) for the second grading period may do so by completing an online questionnaire.

Families will have from Sept. 23 until Sept. 30 to submit their change. Only families wishing to change their current learning model selection for the second grading period need to complete the online questionnaire.

End of The First Nine-Weeks

October 2nd (end of the 1st 6 weeks) is a UIL eligibility grade check. If your child is involved in a UIL activity, they must be passing every course with an average of a 70 or higher to be eligible to compete/perform.

October 5th All Families Who Selected In-Person Learning Will Return to on Campus Learning

If you selected in-person learning and have not received notification of returning to campus, a letter will be sent early next week about returning to campus protocols and expectations. If you selected in-person and have not received notification, your child will return October 5th.

If you selected virtual learning, you will remain in virtual learning the remainder of the 9 weeks.

Senior SAT Day

Friday, September the 25th is also the deadline for our Seniors to sign up for their School Day SAT. Please remind your senior to sign up if they haven’t already done so.

Wednesday, October 14th (School Day SAT): 12th Grade students who completed a Participation Form to take the SAT will be the ONLY students on campus this school day. 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th Grade students who chose not to participate in SAT will engage in virtual learning (Asynchronous only) from home.

PSAT Testing Information

11th grade students (School Day PSAT October 29th): All students in the 11th grade need to complete a Participation Form to indicate if they will or will not test on campus on October 29th. Participation Forms for the PSAT will be available on the JMHS school website ( and beginning on Monday, September 28th through Friday, October 9th.

Only students who indicate on the Participation Form that they will participate in the PSAT will be allowed on campus and to test on October 29th. Virtual learners in the 11th grade who submit a Participation Form indicating they will test are welcome on campus on testing day since College Board does not offer an option for testing from home.

Students who choose to not participate in testing will be expected to engage in virtual learning from home on October 29th.

Parking Permits for Returning Students

Parking permit applications can be found here. Proof of insurance must be submitted to Proof must include a picture of a valid insurance card with the student driver’s name on the policy. Payment is $10.00 and can be made through MySchoolBucks. More info can be found here.

AP Tests

Senior Visits

Senior Visits will take place during English 4 classes starting Monday, September 28th, and continue through Friday, October 2nd. Current year planning, as well as post-secondary planning and helpful Senior information, will be looked at during this time.

Staff Spotlight

Monica Garcia is the Science Department Coordinator. She graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelors Degree in Biology and a minor in Criminal Justice. She has worked fourteen years in education as a teacher and as a coach. She currently teachers Pre-AP Biology, and has taught AP Physics C, Chemistry, Forensics, and Physics. Her favorite things are giving her children new experiences and adventures and having fun as a family. She likes to conduct safe science experiments at home, hunting, fishing, and participating in anything athletic with her family.
