The Vision
Berkmar Middle School will provide students with quality, rigorous instruction that will develop critical and creative thinkers who will take ownership of their education in order to be successful lifelong learners.
Principal's Message
It's been a great week here at BMS! We were so fortunate to celebrate student achievement and success. Below, you will find pictures of our Honor Roll pizza luncheon and our STAR Patriots award ceremony. As a school, we are incredibly proud of these amazing students.
While we have accomplished much, there is still lots on the horizon. Over the next few months, we are moving full speed ahead toward testing and the end of the school year. Teachers and leaders will take time to assess our mid-year data and to draft plans for meeting our students' needs. If any team can reach its goals, it is Team BMS!
Thank you for your commitment to finishing the 22-23 school year strong!
As always, thank you for your support!
Your Proud Principal,

ACCESS
6th grade students will begin ACCESS testing on Monday, January 23. ACCESS is a standards-based, criterion-referenced English language proficiency test designed to measure English learners' social and academic proficiency in English.
Students will need their Chromebooks and chargers. Please charge them the night before to ensure they are ready for testing.
Applications for the Gwinnett Youth Commission are Open Now!
The Gwinnett Youth Commission is a year-long Gwinnett County Government outreach program designed to engage and educate high school students in local government and civic affairs to develop the next generation of leaders. County officials and employees facilitate leadership workshops, field trips, and activities to promote personal and professional development, civic engagement, and commitment to public service.
Youth Commissioners serve as representatives to and for Gwinnett’s Board of Commissioners, department directors, and community leaders. In addition to serving in leadership positions and building relationships with local government leaders, Youth Commissioners have many opportunities to earn volunteer hours and qualify for service awards as they invest in themselves and their communities.
Here are a few details about our program:
- The program begins Tuesday, June 6, 2023, and consists of eight weekly leadership workshops during the months of June and July.
- After successful completion of the weekly summer workshops, the program transitions to a monthly meeting frequency from August to May. Youth Commissioners will be invited to participate in special events, field trips, and assist with community volunteer projects throughout the school year.
- There is no charge to participate in our program. Parents/Guardians and students will not incur expenses for participating in GYC outside of transporting themselves to/from meetings and program activities.
- To be considered, students must be a Gwinnett County resident; be enrolled as a rising freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior in a Gwinnett County Public School, Buford City School, private, charter, or home school in Gwinnett, and submit a completed application.
- We seek to compose a diverse student cohort, representative of our vibrantly connected communities; all youth are encouraged to apply, regardless of grade point average or previous leadership experience.
