Quick Note From Principal Turner
It's 2016 and our march towards excellence and challenging the "status quo" continues at Sedgefield Middle School. We have 3 weeks until the end of the 2nd quarter and the end of the 1st semester. The last day of the 2nd quarter is January 20th. Our 1st semester exams or CIA2 will be held during the week of January 12th-15th. Scholars will be assessed on all of the Common Core & NC Essential Standards they have been taught during the 1st semester.
Please take the time on Monday to reset your classroom culture. Revisit your classroom rules and also revisit our school-wide discipline plan that is located in your staff handbook. This is a great opportunity to discuss individual and class goals for the remainder of the quarter and for the remainder of the year. A powerful way to model this goal setting is to share your professional development goals and your mid-year progress on your goals with your scholars. Let our scholars know why you chose your goals, how you plan to achieve your goals and how you are keeping track of your progress towards accomplishing your goals.
Lastly, remind our scholars that we only have 3 weeks left in the 1st semester. Convey a sense of urgency and purpose with our scholars and press upon the importance of making the most of each day of instruction as we approach the end of the 1st semester.
Thank you for being amazing leaders and continue to press onward Spartans!!!
