Named after the book-length poem by Langston Hughes, A Dream Deferred is a multi-experiential and multidisciplinary project exploring how historic systemic policies and practices play out in the nation’s poorest large city. This exhibit aims to help individuals from all backgrounds understand how practices like redlining have impacted the present and will impact the future of our city. Care about equality and social justice? What to better understand this city that you call home? You're definitely going to want to join us!
We will meet in the Honors Lounge at 1:45pm and leave for the subway once we've got everyone checked in. We MUST leave no later than 2pm. You will be provided with round-trip subway fare and entrance to the exhibit for FREE! Space is limited, so be sure to register for your ticket ASAP!

About: Intergroup dialogue is a facilitated conversation between members of two or more social identity groups that strives to create new levels of understanding, relating and action. Intergroup dialogue emphasizes the sharing of personal experiences and the building of authentic relationships. The goal of intergroup dialogue is to build the capacity to analyze our own lives, and in turn, transform ourselves and the society in which we live. This course will be an intergroup race dialogue meaning students of different racial identity groups will strive to create new levels of racial understanding, racial relationships, and racial action. As such, we are asking all students interested in taking the course to provide a short reflection upon how they are prepared to foster an environment of inclusivity.
