Xello College and Career Exploration

Our new college and career exploration tool, Xello, is finally here! We have created a short (6 minutes) pre-recorded presentation introducing the program, what it is all about, and how to access it. All Villa Park students have access to Xello and are highly encouraged to begin utilizing the program.

In addition to the pre-recorded presentation we have also included the original slideshow for you to view as well. As always, all presentations will also be uploaded to the VPHS website under the Counseling tab for future reference.

Counseling Office Tip of the Month- The 16 Career Clusters

This month we bring you information about the 16 Career Clusters. This presentation focuses on 16 different industry sectors. With the rollout of our new College and Career exploration tool, Xello, this presentation will give you some additional insight to the various workforce industries for you to find your future path.

Contact Your Teachers

Do you have a question about assignments, grades or other classroom related material? Contact your teacher for more information. They are your best source of information for all things pertaining to their class. Emails and phone numbers are provided. Please allow 24-48 hours for a response.

Registration

This year we will conduct course registration a bit differently than in the past due to COVID restrictions. We will be putting together a pre-recorded slide show to be sent to the student's OUSD email accounts with information on how to select courses for the 2021-2022 school year. Courses will be selected on a Google Form instead of input into Aeries, as in the past.

The presentation and video will be released to students on Wednesday, February 3 via their OUSD email accounts. It will also be posted on our website under the Counseling tab as well.

Any student with questions about their course selections will have the opportunity to meet with a counselor either in person or virtually. It is not required for students to meet with a counselor during course selection, if they have no questions. All students will meet with a counselor before they return to school in August during Orientation week.

We need our friendships more than ever this year! Let's focus on doing our best to be a good friend to all. An act of kindness and connection ripples out and impacts on so many more people than we realize, and it also boosts our own happy hormones! In times of stress people can react more quickly than they would normally, so let's show compassion and kindness and try to keep calm.

Check out the Action for Happiness App. The app is like having a little personal action coach in your pocket who:

  • Gives you friendly 'nudges' with an action idea each day
  • Sends you inspiring messages to give you a boost
