Cougars vs. COVID
Hi everyone,
Wow! What a whirlwind of a week it has been as we prepare for the upcoming school year. This past Wednesday, our School Board voted to begin the 2020-2021 academic year in the We are all first year teachers, counselors, paras, principal, superintendents etc.
Expectations for this year:
- Be positive - This year will NOT be like any other year we have had. If you are finding yourself longing for the normalcy of the past, then expect to be miserable this year. Be aware of the vibes that you put out to the rest of the staff. Be careful not to surround yourself with negativity. We need to stay positive for our KIDS! If you feel you need to unload, come to me. Don't unload on your colleagues.
- Be flexible - Sudden changes need to be a part of your plan.
- Be resourceful - Stay current on what best practices in your field look like during COVID! Our August PD will focus heavily on how to provide excellent and equitable instruction within a hybrid and virtual model. But this training is meant to be a compliment to all of the goodies that YOU find that are pertinent to your specific content area. BE RESOURCEFUL. Start networking NOW for high leverage ideas to implement into your practice.
- Be kind to yourself and to others - Self-care and taking care of each other will be more important than ever this year. And, we will make this a focus through various activities that promote physical and mental health throughout the year. Accept now that not everything will go exactly according to plan, and that mistakes will be made by all of us along the way. Give each other the benefit of the doubt. Mistakes are an important part of growth - an MAN will we have grown a LOT after this year. :)

Room Preparation
Self-Quarantine Recommended
1. State will be making masks mandatory as of Aug 1
2. Lori Soderberg from public health was not able to participate on our call but had this suggestion:
· It might be a good idea to communicate to staff, students (and families) “to self-quarantine for 1-2 weeks before starting school for those choosing in-person classes” kind of as a prerequisite for in person classes as much as they can of course…..

Word search books
Crossword puzzle books
Decks of cards
Adult coloring books
Coloring pencils
Treats (prefer sugar free)
