Time Frame
The Evangelical movement began in the 1730s and 1740s with the first "Great Awakening". This "awakening" along with the second "Great Awakening" of the 1820s-1840s resulted in the "christainization" of young America and the dominace of the evangelicalism over the American religion climate.
Leader of the Movement
The leader was William Carey, British missionary in India known as "The father of modern missions".
