From the Principal
What a great first week of School, congratulations to all our families, students, and teachers for making this first week of school such a great one. All the smiling faces back in school makes our hearts sing! I saw a lot of great things happening in our school, but most importantly the love our staff is showing your children to support them with a new school year is defiantly the best and most memorable. Showing love comes in many forms, but sometimes holding student accountable is the hardest, but the best way, not allowing them to fail, or lower the expectations for themselves. It can often be easy for teachers to let bad behaviors slide as it is the first week of school, but teachers did not, they held strong, and built strong classroom cultures to create a classroom environment that will bring joy and fun in learning for the school year to come. I am looking forward to this school year and the joy it will bring as we walk towards the light that Jesus shines down on all of us.
Morning drop off is going well. We may not always have an adult outside in the morning to greet the children based on morning staffing. That does not mean we won't be down in the hall greeting them. Our safety of students is our number one concern, and the hall where all students are gathering will be our main focus, we will make every attempt to have someone to help students in the drop off lane and greet them as they pull up.
Just a reminder we are in need of two after school camp staff members. If we do not get this staffed, it could create the possibility of MQSCA not being able to provide this service. If you know of anyone that may be an option, please see the link below. Camps first day will hopefully be September 12th.
Lastly I want to welcome Mrs. Sayoni Mitra to the MQSCA staff. Mrs. Mitra will be the Administrative Assistant and will be in the main office of MQSCA. We are excited to have Mrs. Mitra join our MQSCA family.
Basketball Sign Up
We are excited to offer winter sports at MQSCA. Please see the sign up for for the upcoming basketball season. Basketball is offered for students 5th-8th grade.
Spirit Wear online store is open. Please click here to enter the online store.
A couple of reminders:
Spirit wear tops can be worn as a uniform, including polos, t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, 1/4 zip, and crew neck sweat shirts. There are a few restrictions. Hoodies, sweatpants, athletic shorts, and full zip jackets and sweats shirts are not allowed on uniform days, only dress down days.
Student and Family Handbook
Thank you for your patience. The Family handbook was sent home today, Friday September 2. Please review the handbook with your child(ren). Each student will be given a handbook, and each student and parent needs to sign the MQSCA School Covenant. A covenant is a promise that each participant makes. We all share an obligation to work together in a partnership in order to make schooling possible. Therefore we all have a specific role that we need to do to the best of our ability. Teachers and MQSCA staff, parents, and students, all have an integral role in the shaping of the minds of each student at MQSCA. Please review the roles and sign in the appropriate space. Teachers have already signed each of there students covenants. K3, and K4 parents and sign for students in student portion.
Dress code applies to students K4-8th Grade
After School Camp
We are in desperation for a MQSCA community member to come forward to help coordinate the family fun dances. Our first dance is two weeks away and is on the verge of being canceled.
I have created this form to fill out to compile a list of volunteers in the category they would to volunteer in. If you have reached out to the school already, please fill out the form with all other families to indicate a place that if you were to volunteer, this would be the way. Many hands make light work.
I have some community members that have already showed interest in supporting the school for a beer and wine tasting fundraising effort. We have an opportunity to make this one night be an opportunity to raise money for our school for a playground and much needed fencing. Please consider volunteering for this event so we can start the planning process.
School Pick Up
Click here to see the map of school pick up locations.
Just a reminder that K3 and K4 get pick up in the front of school, 116th St. Parents must come to the front of the building to get child.
Seton Value: CommunitySaint of the Week: St. Teresa of Calcutta
Virtue of the Week: Safeness
Scripture of the Week: Blessed be the Lord, who has heard the sound of my pleading. The Lord is my strength and my shield, in whom my heart trusts. I am helped, so my heart rejoices; with my song I praise him. Lord, you are a strength for your people, the saving refuge of your anointed. Save your people, bless your inheritance; pasture and carry them forever! (Psalm 28:6-9)
Prayer of the Week:
Your goodness and mercy, surround me daily, so I will not fear whatever might come against me. My trust is in You, God, and I give thanks to You for Your love and protection. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
