National Education Week

This week, November 15-19, we celebrate public education and honor those who work so hard to make our schools among the best in the nation. National Education Week, also known as American Education Week, takes place each year just before Thanksgiving.

There are so many to thank, but we are starting with students. One day this week, all students will be offered free ice cream or frozen non-dairy treats after lunch. Principals have selected a date that best fits the calendar of events for the week. In many schools, parent organizations will honor teachers and support staff with meals and treats of all kinds. You will find lawn signs and posters at each school - thanking parents for their vital role in each child's education.

The first observance of National Education Week occurred in 1921. Join us this celebration of public education - a cornerstone of our great nation.
