Making a difference, one person at a time
Be honest, do you believe ALL Means ALL?
The first, Charles Darwin school. At this school the strong survive. You can clearly identify the have's and have nots. Social order matters at this type of school. Clearly the design is for the cream to rise to the top.
Second, Pontius Pilate school. At this school teachers teach and then it's up to the students. After all, as teachers all you can really do is give students the opportunity. They have to take responsibility for the rest. This school is also filled with "if's". If parents are involved. If curriculum is provided. If students behave.
Third, the Warm & Fuzzy school. This is where expectations are low, but kids are valued and loved. Furthermore, the warm and fuzzy is all about environment and learning is a distant second.
Fourth, All Means All school. These schools demand high expectations of staff and students. Teachers ensure all students meet the essential standards no matter how much grief, pushback, consternation, sacrifice or time it takes.
At the end of Ryan's presentation the question was asked, what school would you want your kids to attend? Overwhelmingly people stood for ALL Means ALL. However, that was before the first day of school. That was before "that" kid. That was before our busy lives smacked us in the face.
So now we are 10 weeks in. Do you believe All Means All?
