Beach Buddies' Mini Bulletin

Happy 2016!

Happy New Year! I hope you have had wonderful holiday break. We traveled quite a bit the first part of break, but now are enjoying some great days around Annandale. This newsletter has just a few reminders...look for our regular digital update next week.

Ms. Meyer

We are very excited to welcome Ms. Meyer into our classroom beginning Monday, January 4th. Miss Meyer is a student at St. Ben's and will be student teaching in our classroom this winter. We can't wait to get to know her!

Winter Break Challenge

Return your Winter Break Challenge sheet next week for a special surprise. :)

January Calendar

Look for our January calendar to come home on Monday. Here is a sneak peek!

New Reading/Writing Check

On Mondays, your kindergartner will be coming home with a RED "homework" paper. This will give you a quick peek at our most recent literacy focus. Please complete this with your child, sign, and return in the Round Trip folder anytime during the week. Thanks for your help with this new home connection.

Family Reading Night - in our classroom

Thursday, Jan. 14th 2016 at 4:30-6:30pm

655 East Park Street, Annandale, MN

This is an open house format so come when you can. Your whole family is invited! We hope to see you there!

Beach Buddies Blog

I enjoyed looking back on our videos and pictures from our fun month of December. Click on the link to see for yourself!

Volunteer Opportunity

On Thursday, January 14th we will be walking to the Care Center to begin our monthly reading time with the residents. Let me know if you would be able to join us. It's always helpful to have extra hands and ears. We leave AES at 9:00 and return around 10:00.

Awareness Wednesday

Wednesday, January 6th is Awareness Wednesday. Remember to wear orange to show your support for bully prevention.

Razzle Dazzle Readers

Remember to return your Razzle Dazzle sheets from over break. Keep the sheets stapled together and return both on Monday, January 4th. Thanks for keeping up with your reading during our time away from school.

Snowman "Junk"

Next week we will be reading a book titled Snowballs by Lois Elhert. We are collecting any unwanted "junk" to help us make our own snow creatures like Lois did in the book. This "junk" could be anything that we can glue onto paper. Ribbon, buttons, material, stickers, yarn, straws, scraps...whatever! Thanks for thinking of us!

Upcoming Dates

Wednesday, January 6 - Awareness Wednesday (wear ORANGE!)

Thursday, January 14 - Family Reading Night, 4:30-6:30

Thursday, January 14 - Care Center visit

As we return to school, we'll be reading and writing about snow and snowmen. I am looking forward to hearing about your holiday break. Thanks for sharing your kindergartner with me!

Wishing you peace and everything good,
