Odds and Ends

*Fun Fair is coming, hope to see you there, FUN NIGHT!! Bring your kids.

*Copy Rooms: Please do not send confidential information to the media center copier. Parents use that room. Volunteers are only allowed to use the media center copier. Thank you.

*Thank you for returning to your class on time after lunch.

*Parents were sent this reminder from the handbook:

The administration and faculty believe that student dress affects student attitudes toward learning. Parents are asked to help students distinguish between school clothes and play clothes. Especially in hot weather, it is tempting for students to dress very casually. Short shorts (fingertip rule), spandex shorts, tank tops including spaghetti straps (3 finger rule), shoes without backs, and bare midriffs are not allowed. T-shirts with inappropriate messages are not permitted at any time. Tennis shoes or other closed toe shoes are recommended, as injury

*Recess is 15 minutes. Thanks for adhering to the time.

*Now is a good time to add comments to the 4MP report card. That way you are not overwhelmed at the end of the year. Recommended by a teacher.

*When is the last time you looked at your webpage? Is it up to date? Contact A. Dewar for assistance.

*We are promoting Waste Free Wednesday Lunch until the end of the year. Please encourage students/parents.

*Mileage forms should be turned in on a regular basis. Get them in!

*THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! You have been working hard to get your money in and we appreciate it! Field Trips: Consider getting the end of the year Field Trip information out early. You can avoid delays in getting checks that way and have it off your plate!

MLK Day 2017

I am writing to invite you to a planning meeting on Thursday, June 9, 2016, from3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. in the Royal Oak Schools Board of Education Room, 800 DeVillen, Royal Oak, for the purpose of planning a community-wide recognition/celebration for the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday on Monday, January 16, 2017.

The concept that has been discussed informally by persons in the Royal Oak Schools as well as members of the Royal Oak and Berkley Pastor's Association has been this:

  • Community Breakfast
  • Community Recognition/Celebration Remarks (brief)
  • Sending of Teams to Work Sites for a Day of Service

The agenda for our June 6, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. meeting is as follows:

  • Organize a planning committee,
  • Develop a timeline and planning tasks,
  • As needed, organize subcommittees
  • Identify leadership for the roles defined above.

The plan is to leave the meeting on June 9, 2016, with a planning framework in place that will allow a Community Celebration of the MLK Holiday in 2017 to occur.

We need your help!

  • Please attend the meeting on June 9, 2016, or have someone from your organization attend.
