My Computer is On Fire!

Helping Students Log In To Chromebooks

Students need to log onto their Chromebooks using their Gmail address. Students Gmail addresses follow this model:

The first 3 letters of the student's last name, followed by the first 3 letters of their first name and the last 4 digits of the student's Powerschool ID number followed by @ccsdschools.com

Gmail Example: Michael Smith with Powerschool number 8675309 would have the Gmail smimic5309@ccsdschools.com

THEY WILL NEED TO USE THEIR NEW PASSWORD TO COMPLETE LOGIN.

Student Passwords were reset by IT to the student's username

When they go to MyPortal, they will have a forced password reset.

Their passwords will need to be at least 8 characters.

Students' Usernames are the first 3 letters of the student's last name, followed by the first 3 letters of the first name and the last 4 digits of the student's Powerschool ID number.

Example: Michael Smith Powerschool number 8675309 would be smimic5309

Logging In To MyPortal is Not The Same As The Chromebooks!

Students do NOT need to use their Gmail address as their USERNAME to log into MyPortal!

Example: Michael Smith with Powerschool number 8675309 will log into MyPortal with the following:

Username: smimic5309

Password: smimic5309

When they log in they will be prompted to change their password. They will be asked their Old Password which will be the one they just used.

Using the Michael Smith Example: smimic5309 is the Old Password

Their new, self-selected, passwords will need to be at least 8 characters.

When All Else Fails...Jiggle It!

If students are still having trouble and they are still unable to log in, have them restart the computer. Often, this resolves any glitches that are preventing them from logging on. Students do not turn their Chromebooks off as often as they should, so reminding them to do it at the end of the day is beneficial.
